Paint the Sky With Stars
I needed some good websearching background music and Enya won.
I totally love it when you are humming along after the first 3 beats since you now know the entire song. Not in the predicatable way, but when the music is actually etched somewhere in your soul, when it was such a presence when you were growing up that it has become a part of you. I'd say any 80's/90's kid would have a similar experience. That and "Eternal Flame."

Songs From The Street (Sesame Street, 2003)
Wow, this box set is awesome! It has every song you ever loved on Sesame Street (along with all of the ones you'd rather forget....)
This collection includes not only the classic full-length songs and many celebrity-assited titles, but it also includes the smaller bits that are not generally seen on SS albums. Remember "Ladybugs' Picnic" and the "Pinball Countdown"?
Younger viewers will revel at the re-release of such goodies as "Furry Happy Monsters" with R.E.M. and "Like the Way U Does" with Melissa Etheridge. Overall, a necessity for anyone under the age of forty.

Cry, Cry, Cry
this is some of the nicest trio work out there. There is something about the blend in these three voices that vibrates my soul. Kaplansky and Williams' voices seem made to compliment one another and the duets alone are worth purchasing this album ten times over. Toss in the absolutely amazing songs with Richard Shindell and this becomes a must-have in every modern folk enthusiast's collection!
I can't believe I haven't seen a lot more of Shindell out there (maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places) but I am truly jealous of my sister who got to see him perform when she lived out in CA. His songs all strike a tone somewhere deep inside that makes them instant favorites.
"I Know What Kind of Love This Is" and "The Ballad of Mary Magdalen" will be remembered by any ballad girl out there, guarenteed.

Severe Tire Damage
Is there a They Might Be Giants fan that outgrew them? I haven't met one yet. If they answer yes, they weren't really a fan. It's so amazing to see a group of people standing around, ages ranging from teens to 30's, but grinding to the same band. Even my kids like TMBG, but they don't know it yet.
An official bootleg, it contains the most popular songs. There is a whole slew of hidden tracks relating to the Planet of the Apes movies. These extra pieces fall flat with me and are not really the big bonuses that we hope for in "hidden" tracks. Overall, it is still a very enjoyable album. It's always refreshing to hear live versions of the songs instead of the same canned versions over and over. And when they don't come and play in your town, this is the best ya got!
Ok, does everyone's body pulsate when Ana Ng Plays? I gotta admit, it is pretty damn hilarious when a baby dances to that song, dada da, dada da, DUN DUN DUN DUN. Okay, back to coding while the kids are distracted with Mr. Rogers!

Out of Time
I'm realizing how appropriate the title of my listening choice is.... Of course, I am cruisin to my usual number-crunching album, R.E.M's "Out of Time." And what am I crunching today? I'm trying to make sure the inventory numbers all jive before I spit out all of last years fiscal data for tax time. Exciting, it is not?
Why R.E.M? "Hell, why not," is my response! I doubt there are many our age that don't have at least one REM song running in their personal soundtrack. (Damn, remember mix-tapes? Haha! For some reason mix-CD or iPod-playlist just doesn't sound the same, does it?) For some reason every day in High School when my alarm went off in the morning "It's the end of the world as we know it" was playing. Encouraging, wasn't it?
Maybe tomorrow I'll dig up some Information Society or Tears For Fears. Although it has been a while since I've tossed in a little Smashing Pumpkins. Hmmm, so many choices....
