Lost Dairy-Free Recipes

*Sigh*

That's the problem with kids outgrowing an allergy! I seem to have misplaced most of my dairy-free recipes, including the Mockaroni & Cheese. I will keep looking, as I doubt they have ceased to exist! I will also try to add my egg-free pudding and coconut pie recipes ASAP.

Cooking for a family with multiple food allergies can present its own host of unique obstacles. Often an appreciation for "cooking from scratch" is developed early. The knack for substitution is a skill that is only acquired over a long time period of allergen avoidance. In most cases I am not reinventing the wheel, just following some basic substitution guidelines developed by others. See the Helpful Resources section below for links to some of these guidelines.

Which allergens do you avoid?

After our first child was diagnosed with a dairy allergy, I began to thank my grandparents for teaching me to cook. My true appreciation for scratch cooking fully developed once we were a year into Feingold with four additional allergens to avoid. Our household is completely Egg and Tree Nut Free. Our first two children also had severe Dairy Allergies (cow specific, goat was safe) and many recipes are dairy-free, or have dairy-free versions. Our son is extremely sensitive to corn, including derivatives, so most of the recipes will have corn-free variations. Our family follows the Feingold Program.

How can I use these recipes?

These recipes were made to be used, but I do ask a few considerations:

  • Do not re-publish these recipes in any media without explicit permission from The FA Family Recipe Box. All of these recipes are covered under a CC liscence, and require permission to duplicate (see any exemptions in this list.) recipes@3kidscrazy.com
  • I ask that any references credit the recipe owner/creator.
  • If you want to share this recipe through email with friends (non-commercial), please include a link to The FA Family Recipe Box web page. The owner/creator MUST be credited as well!
  • Check the credits block at the bottom of the recipe! If an author has a different copyright preference than The FA Family Recipe Box, the more stringent of the licenses will apply. (The author may ban any reproduction, including private email sharing.)

Will you help me modify my own recipe?

I am willing to offer help as I am able, however there are some great resources online for this type of information. I am also looking for more great recipes, and you can always email me a suggestion.

Can I send you my own recipe to be included?

You can feel free to submit recipes that you think I should list in the database. I can not list it if someone else holds the copyright and has not given me permission. Please clarify if this is your own recipe. If it is a modified recipe, please include the original recipe's source. You must include a valid name & email address incase I have any questions. Include how you would like to be (or not be) credited for the recipe. The FA Family Recipe Box passes final judgement on all recipes... submission does not guarantee entrance into the database. Email me your recipe at mailto:recipes@3kidscrazy.com.
