The Price of Milk

A great modern fairy/folk tale. Jack and I watched this together on our New Zealand cinema kick and both thoroughly enjoyed it. Enough that we watched it again when JW came home.

I still can't get past the agoraphobic dog. I still chuckle when I remember the box in the field and his buddy's comments (if you've seen it you are cracking up right now).

Saw

I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. I initially rented it because I thought JW wanted to see it. I got home, showed it to him, and he looked disappointed. I inquired, and he stated, "it's a little more violent for my tastes." We watched it and both of us were pretty riveted. It actually keeps you guessing a fair amount, even if not until the very end. Yes, most of the violence was horrific, and I would not let even my teen watch this movie knowingly, but it was appropriate. I truly hate both gratuitous violence and sex. If it isn't necessary, don't bother me with it. And although this movie was far more graphic than I generally enjoy, like Cube, it was vital. If you can take the bloodshed and like a psychological thriller/mystery, this is one to watch.

Starship Troopers 2

Did you ever hear that a movie is bad, but then go and watch it anyways, only to discover that it was far worse than could have been imagined....

The effects were interesting, but no where near worth sitting through this movie to see. The special features are downright disappointing, basically everyone sitting around saying, "the casting was perfect... blah... blah... blah...." Well, the cast was actually great, but even after acting their little hearts out they simply couldn't make up for the terrible writing and poorly thought out plot. This was no A*P*E, my friend, it just stunk.

I'm not going to continue with a detailed review. If you are really that curious, go rent the damn thing yourself. Just remember I warned you!
